Choosing Names

There are many names in the Torah: Pharaoh, Benjamin, Moses, Ahab, Haman, Adam, and so on. Is there special meaning to a name? That is, if I change my name, would that change my life, too?

The answer is “Absolutely not.” Changing one’s name cannot affect one’s spiritual evolution. A name change can affect a person, but it is merely a psychological effect. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, there is no way to affect one’s soul or spiritual growth using any bogus means such as a name change.
